The Central Michigan University New Venture Competition (NVC) provides a forum and serves as a catalyst for students to turn their ideas into sustainable business ventures. All participating teams gain insight, advice, mentorship and expertise from seasoned entrepreneurs, alumni, venture capital experts, angel investors and community leaders.
The experience offers workshops, coaching, and networking over an eight month period, starting in September and culminating on Venture Competition Day, March 28, 2014.
Entrepreneurs are encouraged to gather customer and marketplace input, build a rough prototype of their "product or service" and use the information to improve and evolve their start-up business.
The New Venture Competition is for new ventures or ventures that are in an early stage of launch. It is designed to create an opportunity for students who have business start-up ideas to get them going, through connections to resources including the potential of earning start-up capital. For the past two years we invited students from Michigan Technological University to compete with the Central Michigan University students to encourage collaboration between the universities.
Involvement of CMU:
· Encourage students with the entrepreneurial passion & ideas to participate
· Provide Leadership, Support, and Mentoring
· Provide bi-monthly Workshops over an eight month time period
· Final One Day Competition showcasing the student competitors
